The palace, designed by a French architect in 1892, was built under the patronage of Maharaja Jai Singh of Alwar to commemorate the visit of Queen Victoris's son, the Duke of Connaught. The Palace itself, fully restored, is an interesting melange of old world hospitality and modern comfort.
