The city of Nagaur, located between Jodhpur and Bikaner, dates back to the 4th century and once was at the centre of Muslim invasions from Central Asia. The Nagaur Fort complex encompasses an interesting variety of palaces, mosques, temples, intricate baoris (reservoirs), water systems, fountains, open terraces and pleasure gardens. The Royal Camp, within the Nagaur Fort, borrows from and expands on the concept of royal safari and 'shikar' hunting camps of a bygone age. The luxury tents, each with verandah, bedroom and bathroom, are custom made, using the finest of Marwar traditional skills and weaving in the best of modern comforts.
With dusk comes the campfire, around which various performances indigenous to the Thar desert take place - be it music and dance or magic or puppet shows, juggling, flame throwing.

It was at the centre of Muslim invasions from Central Asia and while the massive walls of the historic Nagaur Fort might have often repelled the enemy, many influences penetrated and this complex is a rich study in contrast and the passage of time with its painted palaces, mosques, temples, intricate baoris (reservoirs), water systems, fountains, open terraces and pleasure gardens dating back to the Mughal times. The palaces are richly adorned with intricate paintings and one of the mosques within the complex was commissioned by the Moghul emperor, Akbar.
LOCATION
Nagaur is about midway between Jodhpur and Bikaner with easy access to and from both destinations. The Nagaur town, fort and the sand dunes, only 55 miles away make this location a very attraction tourist destination
ACCOMMODATION
The Royal camp is pitched within the fortifications of the Fort, allowing first-hand access and participation in the history, tradition and culture of this land.
The Shikar style camp is an ideal stopover for those who wish to visit the fort, the city and the sand dunes which are only 55 km away.
Custom-made camps can also be especially arranged for exclusive groups in other locations of choice subject to a minimum of two nights stay and 15 tents.
The 20 luxury tents, each with verandah and attached bath and water closet, are custom made, using the finest of Marwar traditional skills and weaving in the best of modern comforts.

DINNING
