6 Nights / 7 Days
Day 1 Arrival at Cochin [Brunton Boat Yard]
You arrive at Cochin International/Domestic Airport, to be whisked away to The Brunton Boatyard Hotel is a looking-glass held up to this era. It's our attempt to capture the soul of a colorful and romantic age that remains one of history's most charming conjuring tricks, nurtured by Kerala's tolerant spirit
You will have more time to freshen up, before joining the sightseeing of Kochi, is the only place in the country where you can see Portuguese Churches, a Jewish Synagogue, Hindu Temples, Dutch Architecture & Mosque nearly side by Side. This evening a memorable experience in any journey in Kerala is a Boat Trip along the Palm Fringed Lakes & Backwaters of the Area, as we sail along the shady canals we see cantilevered Chinese fishing nets. Later we attend the performance of the Kathakali, one of India's most famous Classical dances. Overnight stay at Burton Boat yard
Day 2 Cochin -Periyar 192 kms / 4 hrs [Spice Village]
We leave Cochin & drive to a tranquil hill retreat, the Spice Village Resort is our tip of the hat to this wisdom. A timeless experience in ecological living, recreated for the modern traveler. Along the way we pass through tea, cinnamon, and clove & cardamom plantations - beautiful to see and smell! Our hotel is set in a spice garden & has been modeled after that tribal dwelling of the area; each cottage has a thatched roof & a deep, airy verandah. This evening we visit the nearby Periyar Game Sanctuary; game viewing here is like no other safari experience. Be sure to have plenty of Films on hand! Overnight stay at the spice village
Day 3 Periyar - Kumarakom 114 kms / 3 hrs [Coconut Lagoon]
Fittingly, Coconut Lagoon can be reached only over the water. The great Vembanad lake, an inland sea that stretches clear across central Kerala, forms a breeze-laden watery highway. Your coach transfer happens via a generously clunky wooden boat with a little inboard motor (so as not to disturb the fishes). And the lobby, when you arrive, turns out to be a reconstructed 19th century mansion with a stone jetty attached. Your boat putters sedately through a narrow canal, its banks covered with flowers. Tiled-roof bungalows peer through the foliage. And with a reviving coconut cocktail in one hand, you step off the boat and up to the reception desk, all ready to check in.
Conde´ Nast Traveller once described Coconut Lagoon as one of the 25 best destinations in the world. Our guests tell us that the journey inward is an experience to match
Day 4 Kumarakom - Alleppey Luxury Houseboat [Spice Coast Cruise]
After breakfast transfer to Alleppey to meet your way own floating hotel in the famous backwaters. Kettuvalam, an Authentic Kerala Houseboat. Overnight stay at the, Luxury Houseboat
Day 5 & 6 Alleppey - Marari 12 kms / 15 Min [The Marari Beach Resort]
After breakfast, the boat takes you back across Lake Vembanad to Puthenangadi, from where a car takes you to Marari Beach. The village of Maraikulam lies on a forgotten shore, midway up the Malabar Coast, where the Indian Ocean finally decides that it has now become the Arabian Sea.
It was here that we found all our answers.
A beach is a beach is a beach. Until you can seek out its living heart, the culture that calls it home.
And so, Marari Beach Resort is a celebration of Kerala's coastal fishing villages. Inspired by this ancient way of life, we sought to capture its essence and create a new experience in sensitive travel for the modern-day visitor
Cottages like the one we've just described form the standard accommodation , but if you favor more private luxuries, maybe you'd like to pick one of our pool villa cottages, which are suite-style and have a secluded walled courtyard with a private pool all your own.
