Bangaram Island beach Resort  

The jewel of the Lakshadweep - Bangaram Island, The Lakshadweep or Laccadives, as they were formerly called, are a string of little known islands, lying 200 or so miles off the Kerala coast. There are 36 main islands in all, forming an archipelago of surpassing beauty. There are coral atolls, endless sands, and submerged banks and reefs, covering a magical underwater world.

It is commonly believed that the islands were discovered by ship wrecked sailors during the reign of Charam Perumal, a legendary King of Kerala, around 435 AD. Today, the population of Lakshadweep is around 50,000, spread over ten islands.

The principal occupation of the people centers around fishing and coconut cultivation.
The isolation of the islands has ensured the preservation of their pure culture and pristine nature, right to the present day.

Location

200 nautical miles from south west coast of India. Agatti to Bangaram 8 kms / 1½ hours by boat. There are 30 huts in the resort and Indian & International Cuisine (Buffet) is available.

Weather of Lakshadweep

Lakshadweep has a tropical climate, with summer (Apr & May) temperatures ranging from 35 degrees centigrade to 22 degrees centigrade and winter (Oct. – Mar) - temperature between 32 degrees centigrade to 20 degrees centigrade.

During monsoons (May – Sep) ship-based tourism is closed but helicopter services are available. Some effect of the northeast monsoon is felt in October-November in the form of light transitory showers, which cool the place.

Clothes

Tropical clothes throughout the year are sufficient. A waterproof coat during October-November will be useful.
