MARWAR FESTIVAL, Jodhpur

A festival devoted mainly to the music and dance of the Marwar region. It was originally known as the “Maand Festival”, Maand being a classical style of folk music centered on the romantic lifestyle of Rajasthan’s rulers.

Folk artistes bring to life the myth, legend and folklore of the area in this festival that coincides with full moon- Sharad Purnima. The brave deeds of the heroes of the past-warrior princes and soldiers are remembered in the songs.

Cultural programmed at the Umaid Bhawan Palace can be enjoyed. Attractions of the festival also include brass band performance, horse show, and horse polo and ‘gair’ dance at the picturesque Mandore cenotaphs, among others.
